Vine for Android Released After Reaching 13 Million Users on the iPhone Ben Baggett June 4, 2013 Tools/Apps Even if you haven’t used the service yet, Twitter’s Vine service is continuing to grow every day. The app, which was originally released for the iPhone has reached a total of 13 million users in the few months that it has been available. Twitter recently announced the release of Vine for Android. Now users can “begin to shoot, share, and watch short looping videos. We’ve been looking forward to this day and we’re excited to get the app into your hands,” said a Twitter spokesperson. Android users will see many of the same features from the iOS version. The app will include automatic playback, the ability to explore popular and trending Vines. Vine for Android will also include a new zoom feature, which is not currently available in the iOS version. Vine for Android will not include all the features currently available on the iOS version. Although the company has been hard at work coding the Android version, the two will not be “in sync” with each other. Over the next few weeks, you should expect to see frequent updates, including the addition of search, front-facing camera, hashtags, and mentions, as well as standard bug fixes and stability improvements.
